The East Vale Branch meeting
at the British Legion Club, East Hanney at 8.00pm on the first Wednesday of each month
The East Vale branch is a very active section of the Canal Trust based around Wantage, Grove and the surrounding villages. Our social meetings with occasional guest speakers are a chance for us to chat about our activity during the month and plans going forward - in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. We hold work-parties most 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at various locations. For more information please see Contact Details for our Work Party Organiser. Maintenance of the footpaths and sections we lease/own is extremely important and our MONDAY MOB of branch members with time to spare during weekdays meets once a month for this very purpose. Again please contact our WPO for more information.
During the year the branch organises guided walks on local footpaths, including the canal towpath. The walks for Wantage Summer Festival have become a firm fixture growing in popularity each year. Details of our Autumn/Winter walks are found below."
The branch has restored a number of sections of the canal and structures and maintains them
The current restoration projects are located in Childrey / West Challow. Please see the Restoration page for fuller details.
If you would like to explore the canal around Wantage, Grove and East Challow we have designed a series of walks of varying lengths including the popular circular walk including the remains of the Wantage Branch Full details of the walk and links to download and print can be found at:
