Mike remembers (back in the 40's) the dried out bed of the canal going through the centre of Swindon with its "famous" bridges (especially the Whale Bridge). After a lifetime associated with ships and boats he spends a lot of time skippering the Bruce Trust boats on the K & A. He and his wife have recently bought a share in a Narrow Boat (Double Six) on the Staffs. and Worcs. Canal.
