The photograph below shows what can be achieved as part of the knock-on effect of canal restoration. 
Although the cottages at Dauntsey are a private landowner initiative (neither directed or funded by the Trust) they demonstrate how a restored canal can generate further development and restoration.
The cottages are, to the best of our knowledge the only private development alongside the canal to date.
A few years ago these buildings were uninhabitable and the canal was dry. - What a difference a few years can make. The Trust is in discussion with the landowner (in common with other landowners) to attempt to secure a lease of the canal and towpath on this stretch of water.
