Sept 1908 A Defective Bridge
Chippenham Rural District Council

The Surveyor reported that a wooden bridge over the canal at Raybridge at the bottom of Nash Hill, Lacock, was again defective, and that Mr. Tanner was afraid to send his horses over the bridge. Some time ago the Canal Co, found timber and the Council repaired the bridge, but the fact was that the bridge was worn out and a new one was wanted.

He wrote to Mr Ainsworth ( Secretary of the Canal Company ) suggesting that that part of the canal should be filled up, but Mr. Ainsworth had replied that he could not do that, as by so doing he would ignore the Act of Parliament,- It was eventually decided that if Mr. Ainsworth would find the timber the Surveyor should have the work carried out.
