Swindon sits at the geographic heart of the canal route and faces the most complex urban renewal programme along its route. The branch covers the area shown in the map below
The branch undertake boat trips on the restored stretch at Kingshill and some Sunday work parties.

The North Wilts Canal as a navigation covers both Swindon and Cricklade branches. The current lottery bid (if successful) to restore this route will be undertaken by the combined efforts of both branches.
