We are recruiting volunteer Branch Safety officers 


The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust needs volunteers with a background in health and safety - preferably in the construction industry, although this isn’t essential.

A basic HSE qualification OSHA or NEBOSH would be helpful, along with five to ten years’ experience.

We are looking for volunteers to work with each of our five main branches:

  • Melksham, Calne & Chippenham
  • Royal Wootton Bassett
  • Swindon
  • West Vale
  • East Vale & Abingdon

Living locally would be a great advantage.

Main tasks include:

  • Produce, review and sign risk and method statements
  • Compile monthly safety statistics
  • Support the various working sites to ensure work is being undertaken in a hazard-free and safe manner
  • Undertake safety audits
  • Support and undertake safety training
  • If required, conduct toolbox talks
  • Report and investigate accidents and incidents
