Fundraising at WBCT

Fundraising at WBCT

From March this year our fundraising has been performed by a company called Marsha Miles Consultancy (MMC). Fundraising for charities is a highly specialised business and we wanted to raise our game to ensure that we are producing funding bids that win attention and money from a range of foundations and charitable trusts.

We spent March and April getting MMC up to speed on our work and our funding needs, for both operating expenses and restoration projects. The first fruits are now appearing, we have won £4,825 for volunteer training in MCC branch and £14,500 for materials for the Pewsham dry dock rebuild. Our bid for over £100,000 to fund our 2022 Citizen Science biodiversity survey was unsuccessful and we’re investigating what went wrong.

We are marshalling a raft of restoration projects for funding, with a target to raise £500,000 by 31 March 2022. We will be monitoring this work carefully to ensure we are getting the money we need for our new projects.
