Underwood Trust funds Bee Route at RWB

Underwood Trust funds Bee Route at RWB

The Underwood Trust has been a long-standing benefactor of the work of the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust. This year it asked us to devise a plan for a Bee Route at Royal Wootton Bassett. We duly produced a plan and applied for a £25,000 grant for this project.

We were told earlier this month that our bid had been successful, and the generous grant was made available in due course. We will be working with our local Beekeeping Association, and other bodies promoting biodiversity and environmental improvements, to deliver new pollinators and wildflower plantings along our route from Templars Firs to the eastern end of our Studley Grange section.

We will be observing the progress of this project very carefully so that we can replicate it later, elsewhere along our 70 mile route.
