New Trustee Ron Crook

It's a great pleasure to introduce Ron Crook, who has joined the WBCT as a Trustee.

Ron comes from an engineering background. Early in his career, while working for Chippenham Borough Council, he was involved in the stabilisation of the old canal tunnel leading to Chippenham Wharf. Ron can probably lay claim to being one of the last people to actually travel by boat along that stretch of our canal!

Ron held several senior positions in local government and served on the management committee that oversaw work associated with the re-opening of the Kennet and Avon Canal. He was also instrumental in advancing the back-pumping scheme at the Caen Hill flight of locks.

Now retired, Ron is joining the Trust without portfolio, the plan being that he focuses on council engagement. As well as his Trustee duties, Ron will support the branches and Board in developing relationships with local politicians in Wiltshire.

Please welcome Ron to the Trust. Do drop him a line and introduce yourself at ron.crook@wbct.org.uk
