Our window to the world

We organise or attend many events throughout the year, to promote the Trust and the work we do. From village fetes to boat festivals, from the Towpath Challenge to the Melksham River Festival, from WI talks to Donkey Shows, you will find the Trust and our wonderful volunteers flying the flag, talking to members of the public, explaining the aims and the achievements of the Trust.

Crofton Beam Engines - Sustaining Industrial Heritage

Our October meeting is open to all when Peter Turvey will give a talk about the Crofton Beam Engines. The steam engines are the only ones in the country still working and performing the function they were built for, raising water into the Kennet and Avon Canal. There is a lot of history and engineering to hear about, and work to make the site a great visitor attraction with a bar and cafe.
(Peter is Chair of the Crofton Branch of the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust.)
