Trust appoints new CEO
The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust has appointed Simon Caraffi as Gordon Olson’s successor in the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Simon will take over from Gordon on 20th July 2022.
Gordon will be retiring, for the third time! He is expecting to continue his work for our project as one of our Trustees.
Simon spent many years as an Army officer, rising to the rank of Brigadier, before becoming CEO at the charitable St Peter's Hospice in Bristol in 2012. The hospice requires £16,000 per day in fundraising and recently completed a £7M rebuild of its in-patient Unit.
The WBCT recruiting team concluded that Simon's outstanding career made him particularly well-qualified to manage the next stage of WBCT's development, the tackling of much larger restoration and community engagement projects. We are delighted that he has accepted the CEO's role and will be giving him every assistance in getting to know our management team and our amazing volunteer workforce.
