Restoring 70 miles of canal and towpath for the benefit of local communities, wildlife and leisure
Come and join us.

A new home has been found in Dauntsey for our innovative Transitions Project.

After 12 months work with Wiltshire Council Planning and Listed Building Officers, the Trust has been given permission to build the Dauntsey Lock Canal Centre at the rear of the Peterborough Arms in temporary buildings.

The Transitions Project programmes have been developed in partnership with other groups to help vulnerable individuals in our communities to access and appreciate the benefits of the canal, its heritage and culture, as well as the waterside environment. WBCT will be able to welcome partners WSUN, Lyneham 3Ms Memory Café and Swindon Community Art Group among others to the new facility, when it is built.

Trust Chairman Roderick Bluh said: “This is a great step forward for our project and we are looking forward to welcoming our Transitions Project partners, community groups and our members to the new centre. The Dauntsey Lock Canal Centre will allow the Trust to proceed with the commercial opening of the Peterborough Arms, long awaited by the local community. We thank them for their patience”

Also located in the Canal Centre will be the Trust office and visitor centre and an engineering office.
