A New Trustee

We'd like to extend a warm welcome to our newest trustee, Debbie Clark. Here's a little more about her in her own words:

"As someone who grew up in a town where the canal is a central to the community, I know how important their upkeep and accessibility is for both people and nature. Particularly now, as the pandemic has meant nature and the outdoors has been the backdrop for any time we’ve been able to spend with friends and loved ones. My first post-lockdown reunion with my brother and his family was a nice long walk along my hometown’s canal in Devizes.

With such ambitious restoration plans, I am delighted to be joining Wilts & Berks Canal Trust as a Trustee, especially as I’ve recently made Swindon my home. I’ve spent my 19-year career working with charities, large and small, helping people to support the causes they care about and make a real difference, and I’m looking forward to helping to shape the plans that allow people to get involved in this project and with the Trust overall.

Outside of this role, I am currently the Head of Public Fundraising at the National Trust, a mum of two young boys (8 and 5), and have a keen interest in interior design and painting."
